Cover Art – Another first!
I had to fill out my cover art request sheet the other day for Ellora’s Cave. It was terrifying and amazing and wonderful all at once. They ask you to explain how the characters look, which is great. Totally understandable. Do they have long hair or short, dark or light? Short, tall? Muscular, bulky or lean? You get the picture. So I went through and listed all the physical characteristics of my three main characters. Ava, Knight, and Cross.
Then I realized…there are a million people who have those characteristics. What will the cover models look like? And if they don’t look anything like how I have pictured my trio in my head? Well, the world won’t stop spinning or anything drastic of course. I wont’ even be angry, because I’m sure it will look great. It’s just weird, I think, to see these three as portrayed by someone else. I’m realistic, I know they will NEVER be EXACTLY as I picture them. Because, well let’s face it, Ava, Knight and Cross aren’t real.
But what is real…is this process. I was still having a hard time processing it overall, I think, that it was really happening. But all the paperwork, all the forms to fill out…it’s becoming very real.
Wow, come November…I’ll be for sale! Or, well, my debut will be for sale. haha
Murphy? From Murphy’s Law? Oh, hello…
Well, that’s all there is to it. Murphy is moving in and setting up camp. I tend to think of Murphy from Murphy’s Law as an evil cross between a gnome and a leprechaun with Short Man Syndrome and Mommy issues. How else would you explain why this Murphy character is determined to screw up everything they possibly can? It seems wrong, and entirely too mean-spirited to be a faerie or a pixie or some spirit of some form.
Anyway, not the point. Long story short, everything that could go wrong during the move…did. So I’m about a week behind where I wanted to be with my new story, definitely behind with setting up the new place, and stressing about edits on Songbirds.
Having said that, I will still try to blog a little bit, at least. Hopefully I can remember!
Hopefully I’m not messing up
I tried to make a new blog post, and ended up creating a whole new page! Ack! Not what I wanted at all! Let’s see if this works out. So consider this a test…
Website’s up and running!
Well, I’m extremely pleased about my new website! How grown up and everything. Hopefully I don’t end up screwing something up to the point of no return.
Developing a website
I’m in the process of putting together a website. I was lucky enough that Mari Carr shared with me some website info, and now I have a designer in mind. So soon enough I won’t be blogging here but on a site. I think…we’ll see.
Edits begin in a week or so on Songbirds, and my current Work In Progress (WIP), which I have affectionately named “The One With The Texting And The Marine” is rolling along. Still fleshing out characters but it feels good to be writing new material and not just editing or rewriting or revising.
Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day Weekend!
