Happy Birthday to me, Happy winning to you!
It’s my birthday, but as I’m slowly learning, that whole “queen for a day” thing doesn’t really work when you’re a mother to a toddler. The concept of birthdays is lost on them the “under three” set. Entirely. Ergo, my 20 month old didn’t get my memo that I wanted to sleep in. Or that I wanted her to not throw a fit over breakfast. Or that I wanted a maid service to come in and clean the place.
.
It’s expected.
.
So anyway, to make it feel like a LITTLE bit more of a day of celebration, I’m going to give away a copy of my new release, TEXT ME. And hey, the cover even has a pretty bow on it! I’ll just imagine that’s me on the cover, unwrapping my gift of mancandy for my birthday…
.
Three ways to be entered. Do all three, and you’ve got three chances! Easy peasy, right?
.
1. Comment in this blog post with a lovely birthday message, or a favorite quote, or a word of encouragement that the toddler years DO end…
2. RT my birthday message on Twitter with the link to this blog. (Make sure my Twitter name is spelled correctly, or I won’t see it in my mentions!) You can find me on Twitter at @authorKJReed
3. Leave a birthday message on my wall on Facebook.
.
Three ways to win. Now, off you go!
Emily Ryan-Davis takes over
In a “friendly takeover” act, I’ve commandeered KJ’s blog because I need to say thank you. My novella ALL HE WANTS released from Ellora’s Cave earlier this week and I owe some credit to both KJ and her husband. When I decided I wanted to write a naughty holiday story, way back in June, I also decided I wanted to write a naughty Marine story. (Blame to Mr. KJ, whose, er, champion-level homecoming stamina and widely-acclaimed daddy skills made me wish, just for a minute, that I had a Marine to call my own.)
Back in June? I didn’t know anything about the U.S. Marine Corps. KJ kindly allowed me to bother her with every single question I came up with, no matter how silly and no matter how unlikely the subject was to appear in the story. She even provided some visual inspiration, maybe or maybe not with Mr. KJ’s permission. When I e-mailed to ask for some blog space so I could pimp my book, KJ replied with an offer to plant Mr. KJ in front of a camera for an interview.
Thanks to the KJ Family knowledge and generosity, I’m excited to share my interview with a Real Live Marine…and his sword.
