FAQs
What’s your writing process like?
Everyone’s process is different, so what works for me might not work for you. I do a fast draft first, where I don’t slow down, but try to get out as much of the story as possible. It’s ugly, with a lot of typos and mistakes. But that’s okay. Then I go back with the second draft and layer more emotions, fix typos, so on and so forth. At that point, I send the story out for a reading from one of my critique partners. They check for decent motivation, if the story is lagging, which scenes are working for them and what’s not. Then I fix, do another read through, and off it goes to my wonderful editor.

What’s a typical writing day look like?
Nothing is typical when you have a toddler. Ha. But for the most part, I tend to write when she’s down for a nap and when she goes down at night. I’ve been blessed with a good sleeper. (Thank you, Lord!) I write about 2,000 words a day. And if I have extra work time, then I use that for edits for another project, or blogging, or just relax. That’s the beauty of a job that’s not 9-5. If I’m done for the day, I’m done!

Are any of your books in print?
Come Together, my first trade paperback book, is an anthology of the three novellas in the Come Together series. You can also purchase the novellas separately as individual ebooks.

Which books are connected?
Songbirds, my first release, is connected to Strike a Chord, which is a short story. Strike a Chord is a sort of epilogue to Songbirds, but both can be read alone without any confusion. The Come Together series, in order, are Text Me, Faithful to a Fault, and Comfort Zone. They feature books that are connected by siblings and by friendship. All three books can be read as stand-alone stories with no problem.

Do you write any other genres?
I always write contemporary. The idea of being able to write shifters or keep historical facts straight is just not my talent, though I do like reading other genres. But I also write contemporary mainstream romance, which is hot but not not erotic, under my other pen name: Jeanette Murray. Jeanette has several books under contract, and one currently available to buy, so check back soon if you are interested for something hot but not quite erotic.
